I first noticed changes at 42. Then, I encountered extreme constipation trying the Adkins diet. I realize I had been dealing with constipation all my life, and if this was going to keep me from managing the weight that was being added to my middle, I needed to fix it. I also had no energy and could not get to work on time. I could not sit at a desk anymore because I was experiencing new pain that was becoming unbearable.
Working through the first pages in the Blood Type Diet Book and my Blood type, I eliminated the first things they listed for weight gain and added the first things they listed for efficient metabolism.
I felt better immediately, and I knew I had found some answers. My digestion was better, and my energy was better.
I was on a bowling team at the time, and we were planning to move. I am glad I did not have to tell them that I couldn’t bowl anymore, as I knew I wanted to be a health coach to help others. So in the process of moving,
I was able to quit the bowling team, and once between homes, I stopped at an Asian restaurant and had a chicken stir-fry meal. Since I had cleaned out my colon, it was easier to discern the offending food. I thought I was eating according to my blood type. I had cut out the first ingredient Wheat.
What was the problem now? Well, I had been eating a lot of chili and turkey gumbo soup. I was eating tomatoes 2 and 3 times a day, and 14 – 21 times a week. Could it be the tomatoes? I checked, and it is on my avoid list.
So I removed all wheat and tomatoes from my diet. I had been unable to walk, the pain was so intense. It took 3 days for the offending food to work its’ way out of my system.
So I graduated to chicken chow mein. And eggs. Well, when I ate just eggs, I was starving. I added a cliff bar at this point. I remembered the “Zone” diet, a book I had read in the past. It didn’t work for me then, maybe it would work now. And it did. Combining a beneficial protein with a low glycemic high fiber vegetable, helped me from overeating.
I always had gas. (And a bad complexion) My fingernails always broke, and I felt stiff. Eventually, I had to give up the Clif bars. Too much sugar, and find other things that work. I tried Fruit and Nut bars and Fiber One bars. They worked, and they were not great. Still more investigating to do.
My husband made fun of me and my gas, and my insane hunger levels. How do I eat like him? How do I reduce my calorie intake? How do I manage my constipation and my energy?
So it WAS the sugar that was giving me gas. I had to remove sugar as much as possible, because type II diabetes runs in my family. The almonds and walnuts, and dried cherries satisfied my hunger and helped with the pain. I went through several steps to balance the hunger and digestion.
I outline in the free e-mails, how change can be done. Changing when you eat your foods, to changing the combination. Finding your best foods, and finding a place for them in your daily eating plan. I don’t eat Clif bars, or Fruit and Nut bars or Fiber One bars. I avoid candy and only occasionally eat chocolate. If I do, it is in small quantities, after a meal.
My digestion runs great without all the grains and nuts. Finding the best proteins, and combining them with the low glycemic high fiber vegetables. Deciding to eat my fruits for breakfast.
Also finding a genetic deficiency helped me add the foods I needed to feel better, have more energy and less pain. Almond milk for breakfast on my fortified cereal. Finding where Vitamin B2 has been essential to feeling better. This is why the chow mein worked for awhile, sprouts and celery have Vitamin B2.
Aging, and people slowing down, means, cooking needs to become easier and less time consuming. So, less complicated is the purpose of learning what your body needs. Knowing if you are Low Carb, Balanced, Mediterranean or Low Fat, can help you achieve your best weight and biochemical health for your age. Normalizing your cholesterol and A1C can help you avoid diabetes ( Becoming more alkaline in your urine and saliva, will help you avoid cancer. Blood Type A’s like me are most prone to cancer. And help prevent diverticulitis.
Having a calm brain, helped me save my marriage, and stand up to my husbands’ comments. Save my family and create a better environment for all. The menopause years can throw women into a spin, if things are not what you thought them to be, things can get out of control. Now I need to get some food into my 80-year-old husband. He doesn’t want to cook, he doesn’t want to go out and eat. And He doesn’t want me to cook for him.
Taking baby steps to better health is possible because no one can get here without understanding that they don’t need as much food as they think. Eating less is possible when you know what your body needs. This is why there are two primary tests here, the same ones I used when I had questions after working with the Blood Type Diet.
